Kathmandu, Aug 17:

Lawmakers have drawn the attention of the government on the incidents of loss of lives and properties to landslide and floods following incessant rainfall across the country.

During the urgent hour of today's meeting of the House of Representatives, they demanded that the government make preparedness of disaster management effective and pay attention to the safety of landslide, flood survivor families.

On the occasion, Padma Kumari Aryal pointed out that landslide and floods following incessant rainfall have caused loss of lives and properties throughout the country.

Saying 18 people lost their lives in two days in Rolpa due to natural disaster incidents, she mentioned that many citizens in Jajarkot, Bajura, Kaski, Parbat and other districts have been affected due to such incidents during the period.

Aryal urged the state to make arrangement of treatment to injured people, security to the people of risk areas and play the role of guardian.     

Stating that many people were killed in landslide that occurred in Rolpa, Barsha Man Pun drew government's attention for preparedness of disaster management.

Similarly, Balawati Sharma shared that landslide and flood have caused loss of lives and properties in Baglung, requesting the government for disaster management.

Sharma asked the government to ease the cooking gas supply. Saying the government has been carrying out activities keeping management of landless squatters in priority, Rajeev Khatri urged landless squatters not to be disappointed.

Likewise, Kul Bhakta Shakya and Ganesh Parajuli expressed sorrow over demise of poet Durga Lal Shrestha while Ganesh Parajuli paid tributes to late Shrestha and talked about Shrestha's contribution in the literary sector.

Parbati BK, Renuka Kaucha, Sandip Rana, Abhishekh Pratap Sah, Khadga Bahadur Shahi, Yagya Bahadur Bogati, Yagya Mani Neupane, Bina Gurung, Bikram Khanal, as well as other HoR members drew government's attention to make disaster management effective.(RSS)
